Idiot

THURSDAY, AUGUST 26

Who's an idiot?

Well, as you're reading my Madga-centered blog, you probably know. Magda is an idiot.

Let's back up.

So, I was up late last night chatting. Which is all my fault yes, but I did nap, so I figured I could handle it. I got up when my alarm went off, rushed around, made lunch and rushed off to school at 8:25. It was dead. I worked on my ABCs of Madison and chatted some with Mama. We were getting to practical stuff about lesson planning when the phone rang for me.

It was Kogyo, reminding me I was supposed to be at their school today at 10:30 and it was now 10:45. ACK! I apologized profusely and hopped on my bike and rushed over. I think Kyoto-sensei was laughing at me when Mama explained why I had to run off.

I got to school, parked my bike and ran into school. It was then that I realised that I'd left my slippers at Koko. So, I pulled off my shoes, stuffed them in my locker, and went in stocking feet. And did a lot of bowing and appologizing. The teachers took it gracefully – they worried I was lost – but I don't know if that's actually it or if they're being polite. I do feel, though, that of all reasons for me to not be there, working at the wrong school had to have been better than pretty much any other (oversleeping, etc.)

I worked a bit at my desk. Parker had left me all of his papers and lesson plans which they... threw out. They want me to make my own. Okay. Luckily, I have Parker's flash drives so I have copies.

We then went out to lunch at a little Italian place. It was cute. Its sign says Pizza. Pasta. Cake. That's fantastic. And I talked a lot with my coworkers about how much I liked Italian food and what a good choice it was. We ordered some pizza and they were shocked that it's the first I've had in Japan. Pizzas here, though apparently can be over $30 for order-in. ACK!

I think everyone in Japan will soon know that I love chocolate. It has its advantages. If they want to spoil me (which happens frequently) they give me chocolate. I am OK with this. Dessert here worked in a fantastic way. They wheel out a cart, tell you the options then you pick THREE! Happiness.

They let me go early at work, so I biked home in not the most direct route, which I haven't quite figured out yet. There are lots of rice paddies.

Chatted with Elizabeth, Parker, and Brian this evening. Brian says he's getting a catelogue this weekend for a company that does deliveries to houses. I'm going to order book shelves. The second tatami room only continues to look worse. Plus, this library needs to happen. (Then I must buy books to fill it!)

I hung up all the clothes mommy sent me in my last packages and used the tacks I bought yesterday to hang my Hiragana/katakana poster.

I'm excited to try baking cookies this weekend.

  1. I am now caught up! Also, you are now in my "Dailies" bookmark folder, which is the folder I open up every morning to check on what's changed overnight. You are in the company of Questionable Content and Dan Savage!
