Dress up!

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 15

Today was my second day of the gestures lesson at Nishi. The students seemed to enjoy it and I didn't seem any students abusing “the finger.” After explaining the “shaking a finger at someone” gesture, I would always go find a student who was misbehaving (sleeping, working on other homework) and demonstrate it (much to the rest of the class's amusement.) In one class, I had the entire class paying attention, which made this quite difficult! In a good way, you know!

The boys don't get at all into the fist bump.

I spent my free time working on review sheets/worksheets for students at Koko. I have found I really love the challenge of making my own crossword puzzles, so I've been thrilled at the chance to make them. I made several worksheets, which I'm not sure if I'll use or not, as well as a scavenger hunt! I'm most excited about this. All of the answers are on the walls and students walk around and look at my bullitan boards to fill in the answers! I also put together a lesson plan for tomorrow. I'm not sure how tomorrow will work. I'll be listening to exams, so I think the JTE will be running the lesson. I gave everything in great detail, because that's kind of short to suddenly run a review class!

At kimono class tonight, I was reminded of why I love kimono class. See... my teacher spent 30 minutes after class telling me how cute I am, only, as she doesn't speak English well, she repeated the phrase a half-dozen time with various adjectives. It's no wonder this woman can sweet-talk money out of my pocketbook like no other.

Today we learned how to put a kimono on someone else. It's challenging (and also involves politely smoothing fabric over someone's chest, so it's a smidge invasive. Still, I figure it's a good skill to know for when I come home. I'm sure people will want to play dress up.
